The Career Development Center (CDC) works with faculty and staff to provide an array of career-related services based on the shared goal of student success. This collaboration supports the student transition from campus to career.
How can we help you? Following are some of the services offered by the CDC:
The CDC helps students determine the right major based on their interests, career goals, skills, values, and personality. Students come to the Career Development Center to develop essential job-search skills and research job outlook, salary, and employment trends.
The CDC works directly with employers, who often ask to contact faculty members who could help them to target students in a particular major or discipline. Employers like to develop mutually beneficial relationships with faculty and can provide many forms of support. The CDC facilitates that connection.
At the invitation of the CDC, recruiters participate in Job Fairs, On-Campus Interviews, Information Sessions, workshops and classroom presentations.
Career Counselors conduct CDC tours or give classroom presentations about a host of career-related topics, such as resume writing, job-search strategies, and interviewing skills. The CDC also arranges presentations by professionals (many of them alumni), who can relate their experiences and how their degrees have helped them in their careers. Consider these options as a program for a student organization you advise or in lieu of cancelling a class. Through its network of employers, the CDC helps students identify internships that will best serve them in their academic and professional pursuits.
